(28-Oct-99) Speaking of mood swings... what a fine day this has turned out to be. I hit pic no. 200 for the '98-'99 drawing period. Not too bad for drawing once a week, eh? We had a day of art tutorials at work, and I did drawings during the stuff that I already knew. Walter was there to inspire some playful expression, which just felt like the missing link in my drawings recently. Pic one was done with a ballpoint pen. It's full of dumb doodles. Pics two and three are done from one of those "make the squiggly line into a drawing" things. I used it for gesture instead. It's an old trick I learned from Howard Lyon for challenging the ol' pencil. If you look close, you should be able to see the same gesture line in both drawings. Four and five are weird ol' things. Pic five was done with a different squiggly -- look closely for it.

(26-Oct-99) Ugh. I've been stressing out about my career and future and talent and whether or not I'll ever get what I want in life, or if my priorities are all screwed up... blah blah blah... the regular old crisis... maybe you know the drill. Pic one and two are random doodlies, and pic three is my tribute to Halloween. Enjoy.

(19-Oct-99) I started off really paranoid about tonight's drawings. It's been so long since I've roughed in any poses before going at it that I'm sure I need the practice. The first pic is filled with the same ol' "start from the eyebrows, end at the toes" figures, but I love the guy with the monocle attached to his nipple. Pic two is where I started "prepping" to get into poses, and pic three is where I went nuts. By the end of the page, I felt like I was getting back into the swing of things.

(16-Oct-99) Here's a schload of design sketches for my pin-ups with Visual Assault. The first pic made the final cut (01-30-99) -- an angel with cloth draped around her chest for wings, (2) a contemplative angel w/ sword, (3) some dumpy doodles, (4) a "combat pose" angel, (5) more dumpy doodles, (6) even more, (7) another combat pose (yay swords and daggers), (8) an armored angel (and friends) and finally (9) the armored angel with a bow...

(12-Oct-99) I had a fun night of drawing. The first pic is a bunch of weird stuff, and the second pic is more weird stuff. Yay for weird stuff.

(12-Oct-99) This is the first of the character designs I did for my pin-ups with Rhyan Scorpio-Rhys at Visual Assault. It's a flaming-head angel with sand or smoke streaming out of her hands (instead of wings). It didn't make the cut.

(08-Oct-99) Ho hum. I wasn't inspired to do anything in particular tonight, so I've only got one page of doodles to share. The weird looking bugger in the thumbnail is a bad caricature of an author I have the occasional pleasure of working with at Saffire. He's responsible for a new fantasy series called Runelords. Maybe you've read some of it.

(05-Oct-99) I have a couple pics to share tonight. The first is of a girl that's tying up loose ends with an old flame. The second is some sketches I did for Sam to explain the techniques that help me draw the head and body. I put enough detail in some of them that they were worth putting up. The usual guys weren't available for drawing tonight, so I may have more drawings to put up this Thursday.
